For adventure seekers, we invite you to an extraordinary full-day excursion where you can experience the changes in altitude, climate and landscape from 1,300 m.a.s.l. to approximately 4,540 m.a.s.l.. In addition, you will observe firsthand the páramo vegetation, which grows in the mountains and is made up of huge shrubs and frailejones (common high-altitude plants from 3,800 to 4,200 meters that belong to the sunflower family). All of these form the unique appearance of the Páramo ecosystem. The diversity in the landscape will keep you speechless, as it is a unique experience.

Experience Details

The trip and the tour in the park is done by car, during the tour we will see beautiful landscapes and different small ecosystems along the way. The ascent will be done with a local guide who will take us to the volcanic landscapes to four points of stops authorized by the park.

Los Nevados National Natural Park is located in the coffee region of Colombia, surrounded by snow-capped volcanic peaks. The park has a special and unique flora and fauna. Every visitor falls in love with the strange but beautiful mountain vegetation and more than 32 species of hummingbirds in the region. During the ascent, if you wish, you can enjoy a hot cup of coca tea to help you avoid altitude sickness.

Finally, after visiting the mystical area around Los Nevados National Natural Park, you will arrive at the hot springs for a hot bath. These hot springs are known for their therapeutic effects, such as relieving stress and encouraging general well-being. But the real experience at Termales del Ruiz is the 10 species of hummingbirds that visit the feeders installed in the main garden. You can purchase small hummingbird feeders and interact with them and feed them, what an experience! After a day full of adventures, you will return to your hotel!

Recommendations

Due to the physical demands and altitude, a visit to the park is not recommended for people with physical disabilities, heart or respiratory problems, pregnant women, children under 5 years old or people over 70 years old.

In case of taking any medication or suffering from any physical condition, please inform our front desk before the tour.

Please bring your passport or a copy of your passport to enter Los Nevados National Natural Park.

Be sure to wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes and a warm jacket, as it can be quite cold and windy (5 ℃ is not uncommon up there).

Bring a bathing suit for the hot springs and towel (in case you need towels, ask our staff for them before leaving for the tour (Do not bring towels from the rooms).
